SUPPORT WITH HOMEWORK, ASIGNMENTS, PROJECTS, TESTS AND
EXAMS
Mondays to Thursdays 13.45 – 17.30
• Learning atmosphere: The learner is given every opportunity to take
responsibility and focus on his/her school work. They realize that their
progress is important. The staff of the learning centre is willing and
able to give them support. The following strategies are implemented to
enhance learning.
Brain Gym will be done before starting each session.
Soft back ground music to enhance concentration.
Fresh drinking water at room temperature
Each learner will have a space where he/she will be able to focus on the
work.
No talking will be allowed in the learning centre.
Whenever learner needs to talk to either monitor or educator, the indicator
light is used to indicate that help is required.
• Monitor Support
The monitor is always present in the learning centre for discipline and
support with homework or assignments. She ensures that the learners stay
focused. Various strategies are implemented to help student stay focused.
The monitor checks to see if work is completed and signs the CREAKOM homework
slips/books. The Monitor and educator work closely together.
• Educator/Teacher Support
The educator/teacher is available in a cubicle for individual support.
She helps the learners up to grade 3 with reading and spelling, and the
older learners when they need help. She contacts the parents if she finds
the learner has specific problems with school work and needs remedial
education or extra lessons. She also helps the monitor to check the homework
and sign the homework slips/books.
• Information Support
Schools will be contacted to receive dates of assignments and projects.
Learners will be supported to set up goals and time schedules for completion
of these projects and assignments.
Learners will be taught to plan the project outlines or schemes.
Learners will be supported to gather information via library block loans,
internet, interviews, radio and television.
Learners will be supported to organize and structure information and do
correct work sighted references.
Learners will be encouraged to type or write their own assignments.
Learners will be taught to give an oral report on each project.
Learners may enrol in the Graphic design course to improve the visual
quality of their projects
• Preparing for Tests / Exams
Learners are encouraged to master/memorise work done at school daily according
to the latest study methods. Students are guided on how to set up a study
schedule, to ensure that each learning area is covered once a week. Extra
time will be allocated during test or exam periods.
Learners attending only for tests/exams support, have to attend CREAKOM
at least three days to prepare for a test, and at least 12 days to prepare
for exams.
REMEDIAL EDUCATION (MATHEMATICS, READING AND SPELLING)
80 Minute sessions on Fridays from 14:00 and Saturdays from 8:00
• A free assessment is done by an Educational Psychologist to determine
the areas where possible back logs have developed or if the learner has
a reading, spelling, language or mathematics problem.
• The subject teacher may be contacted with the parents’ permission
• After an interview with parents the learner may enrol for remedial help.
• Goals and strategies are discussed with learner and parents.
• An individual remedial program is worked out for each learner.
• An interview with parents and learner after 12 weeks or sooner if necessary
• A final interview will be conducted when problems have been resolved
or the remedial classes are terminated.
• A final interview with teachers and educators

Fridays from 14:00 and Saturdays from 9:00

FEE STRUCTURE FOR 2010
SUPPORT WITH HOMEWORK, ASIGNMENTS, PROJECTS, TESTS AND EXAMS
Mondays to Thursdays 13.45 – 17.30
Four days per week: R640.00 per month paid before /on the first school
day of the month (R40 per day)
Daily Fees: R60 per day paid before entering the learning centre
Use of the computer/internet for research: Included in fees
Printing of projects: Text: Included in fees. (Only for school projects)
Colour graphics R5 per page (Only for school projects)
REMEDIAL EDUCATION (MATHEMATICS, READING AND SPELLING)
80 Minutes sessions on Fridays from 13:30 and Saturdays from 08:00
One session per week at R700 per month, paid in advance before/on the
first session of the month. No refunds will be given for non-attendance,
but make-up sessions will be scheduled in case of illness or if arranged
at least 48 hours before the session. No make-up sessions will be given
without notification.
ART & CRAFTS
Fridays: 13:45
Saturdays: 09:00.
Minimum time 60 minutes may vary according to project.
Minimum fee is R60 per session paid in advance on a monthly basis before/on
the first session of the month. There may be additional costs depending
on materials used. You will be advised in advance of additional costs
as fees only include basic materials.
